How to redirect 301 in html website

Hi i want to know how to redirect my website in non www to www and i am creating my website in html. i want to do SEO frndly redirect such as 301 redirect but how plz explain and write code also thanks in advacne :)

    hi,
    I have done 301 redirects from ASP pages before but never from a good old plain .html file.
    i am wondering what I need to add to the page to redirect to a new location. I read on the net than I can do it from IIS, unfortunately I am on a shared server so this is out, i also read i can upload a htaccess file but if so what is the format so i can redirect several individual pages.
