I saw few sites which are having different title in SERP than actual title. Why is that?

Sometimes Google change the title shown based on the search query if they think it will provide a better CTR.

Well this might be due to you did submission in dmoz directory or in yahoo or any other submission Google might be taking from it directly by seeing that is perfect for the site.
