  Yes, It's correct. Google+ gives more importance to your social networking. So many user now create profile in Google+. Use Google+ to index your site quickly. Facebook is a good social media platform although not which great with regards to web site indexing.

  I think facebook is most popular networking site, but google+ also popular now a days... so it is better to having account in Google+
