Band domain name and seo

hey
my band is setting up a website in the next week and I had a couple of questions.
pretend the bands name is "the shark". the domain "thesharksband.com" is available however there are many other bands calle the sharks. according to google Adwords there are 27000 searches for "the sharks band" per month. the plan would be to register the domain, create the website and get as many links in blogs/social media going back to that domain as possible to help push seo.
th other option would be to create a domain called something like "experiencethesharks.com" which doesn't hav any searches at all according to Adwords.
while option 1 has the search term in the domain name, I'm not sure if it will guarantee a good search result while option 2 gives a unique name but could be harder for people to find.
any thoughts would be appreciated!
thanks
Matt

First of all, be careful using a band name that others are already using. I won't even go in to how bad this can turn out. Secondly, I would buy both domain names and redirect one of them to the other. Make sure when you set up your site your meta information is correct and relevant and contains only 4 to 6 keywords. Although there are a lot of searches for your band name you may not get as many visitors as you would like in the first few months.

Once your site is finished expose your site by social media advertising. Be sure and put songs on the site as well as a blog with running news about your band. If there are other bands who may have a blog or website try to review them and post your site link to their site.
