  Directories submission is still very important and effective source to get do-follow and high page rank backlinks in free however it is hard job because if you submit your site in 100 directories you will get 20 to 30 % approvals.

  according to me, High PR directories does help you get good back-links .. But u seriously need to stop directory submission. there are many other options like social bookmarking,forum postings and web 2.0, there is also something know as video submission now a days which not only helps you get good back links and views but also increases the PR of your homepage

You would then need to make sure that the list is updated else you would waste time in visiting each directory just to find out that they don’t exist anymore or have become paid directories.You would need an updated list of free seo-friendly directories.
