Keyword density verses Keyword saturation

When analysing Keyword density you get output off :- the No times a keyword appears and a persentage figure. I just woundered if anyone out there could explain how to maximise on these two results but not end up with Keyword saturation.

I think search engines like text to look natural so this is maybe more important than just keyword density?
