Have you used press releases for your online business.Press Release is one of the oldest yet least known method of marketing the product/services online.It helps the website get backlinks from authority news websites and help your business reach the target audience.It helps you with direct marketing as well as with Search Engine Optimization.
Just wondering how many of you have actually used them for your business and what was your experience of the results following.Please share.

    I work for a client who used to turn out regular press releases, maybe 1 or 2 a month. Most were written to tap into a story/topic that was current in the news. All were a total waste of time. They only recorded a single incident of a press release being republished and that appeared to be on some useless auto-create blog.

    My client has now given up on press releases and is better targeting their resources.

    Other people may have a different experience.

    Thanks Madeira for sharing your client's experience.Press releases are for news website,so they have to be written professionally for them to be effective.Many people try to make up something in the name of a press release - which is sure to go unpublished,which I guess is the case with your client.

    Elsoft, yes, I agree with you, press releases should be written professionally.

    My client is not your average Joe Bloggs on the street corner, they are a large international corporate entity. They employ professionals who know what they're about. The press releases were professionally produced.

    I was never involved in any part of the process of creating the press releases. However, from what I have heard from around the water cooler, my client never offered freebies, never bought into paid advertising in return for a press release being printed and, never felt inclined to pay press release agencies for a service that carried no guarantees nor quality benchmarks.

    Of course, others may have a different experience, but I am only relating from my own first hand knowledge of what conclusion my client came to.

    Yeah, I have used press release and luckily most of the times my press release got on top in Google news bringing lots of traffic and exposure.

    I am very intrigued by press releases. I have used them for clients before. However, I dont think they would be beneficial for my business. I run an seo firm and I just dont see anyone having interest in anything I would do a press release on. I would love some ideas if anyone has any.
