even we need to bear in mind,our site design and content should be google spider friendly.
having a blog and blog commenting,forum discussions is one of the good ways to generate valid backlinks and inturn we get good page rank.
if we go for social networking sites,though they may not give valid backlinks they can generate high traffic which is good for google rankings.
