  I don't understand you want .edu and co.uk website ? If you think .edu website has more weightage compare to other website then you are totally wrong because Google only looks for PR of the website from where links are coming. Why Google or other search engine even care about the domain of website.

  I believe that .edu and .gov websites are kind of irrelevant to what your niche, unless you promoto politically inclined website (which is impossible, by the way) and you just leave your link there.
  
  I'd say it should be how you look at it. But I could say that it's greyhatting. =)

  i agree here - i didn't think the domain mattered in the least!!! In fact I've never heard of any hype over it. what's the opinion of most people on this?

  Search engines are not all concerned about the domain of a website. It will simply take into consideration the PR of your website from where links are coming.
