Dofollow blogs alllow people to not only write articles which contain links, but mainly reply or comment to the articles already written.. thus dropping a link into the comment or usually in the name field. If the blog has a good PR and you manage to get a long term anchor link into the comments..this can improve the website the anchor link is pointing too. Well as far as PR is concerned anyway, and this could make your website rank higher.
