  Forum posting, if used in the right way, can be very powerful. This is because you are getting links from established, relevant pages, and as long as you're contributing and not spamming then the forum won't mind giving you a nice 'followed' link in your signature.

  Article helps a lot to get backlinks and obviously it helps to get lot of traffics if you're article can attract readers. But in my opinion one way is not sufficient in SEO. You have to apply all the rules of both on-page and off-page seo.
