i am confused about reciprocal links. some say they are bad as search engines see as negative. but when i use back link checker mostly all sites are using them for page rank. What do you think Search engines think of them
Reciprocal link building is the process to exchange links between 2 websites. Which are at same theme......If both website are quality websites then both will increase popularity and search engine reputation. This is beneficial...
I've been doing a lot of research on search engine optimization lately. One of the main ways to fare better in the search engines, particularily Google, is to have more inbound links.
I've exhausted all possible directories and other sites that can put a link to my site (and I'm also thinking about other sites I'm making now and in the future).
So when it comes to getting more sites linking to you, it seems that the last option is to submit to directories that will link to you, but only if you link to them, usually by placing their logo on your site with a hyperlink.
I don't like this for two reasons:
1. People may become distracted and leave your site for one of the links, which could be a directory with your competitors.
2. It doesn't look professional to have links to a bunch of directories. Some of them don't even want it on a "links" page, they want it on a "regular" page.
3. I hear Google doesn't like "reciprocal" links, they prefer "one way" links - a link to your site, but no link back to the other site.
The first thing that springs to mind when the subject of reciprocal links appears is good old fashioned link trading. In fact, link swaps are only one aspect of the overall topic of reciprocal links. Far more than simple link exchanges, reciprocal links also include website themes and topics, cross linking of self administered websites, and the even more problematic link farms. There is more than one issue bundled into the overall category of reciprocal links.
If you know the Google algorithm properly then you can do link exchange easily because if you get a reciprocal link from any penalize site, irrelevant site or the site who have bad links then you will get very bad effect on your site. This is the limitation in reciprocal link & if it is break this rules definitely your site will go out of ranking.
Well I don’t pay much attention to what Google says. It you take the top 50 factors that influence ranking, link exchanges are at the bottom of the heap, maybe even a negative factor. While link exchanges may assist with crawling and discovery, you cant say definitively that the exchanges themselves are directly responsible for a ranking improvement. Having the page indexed is closer to the truth and now a days that can be accomplished with a lot less effort. So if link exchanges are the main platform for ones SEO it will only keep you on an even platform with the other link exchangers. The goal in SEO is to dominate query space and not float around in the sediment with everyone else.
This thing is very old becuse before 3 years reciprocal link are counted as good but now senario is that if you are doing reciprocal link then remember these things.
1. Site should hve relevancy with your site. 2. Both side have sane GEO location. 3. Content should be relavent. 4. Website should have good Page rank.
There is nothing wrong with "reciprocal links", per se, but they should be "real" links, with a purpose, contained within the content on a page for a reason. Likewise, if they're linking *back* to your site, there should be a reason for that link, too.
Reciprocal is good for indexing but before you link your site try to check the site first, check if it is relevant to your site, see the details and quality of the site that you are about to link if it is a good site or not. As much as possible try to link that relevant to yours, on that way you will get index on search engine sites.

Thanks Piush
A Reciprocal link exchange is a difficult way to build links without ruining your website. Outgoing links create a sieve like effect to your link juice. If you build 500 links to a page via reciprocal linking it means you need to have 500 outgoing links on your site. Any respectable webmaster will not accept a link on a "link page" with 499 other links, so you have to work them into your site in a contextual manner. This in my view is no way to build links if you want to keep your sites integrity.
This is the restriction in mutual link & if it is better this rules in spades your site will go out of ranking. If you experience the Google algorithm right then you can do link replace easily because if you get a mutual link from any punish site, irrelevant site or the site who have badness links then you will get real bad impression on your site.
I think they can still serve a purpose if the site that you are swapping with is relevant, but I wouldn't go overboard with them. Try and request a link within the content of their website rather than on a 'links' page. I think it's a waste of time setting up a seperate 'links' page. Google tends to ignore links on these types of pages.
Recprocal links can also help but google has given reciprocal links a smaller chance of getting high PR. But as far as traffic and busienss is concern, reciprocal is very effective.
If I have the opportunity to choose, I always go with one-way links. They are safer and faster to build, but the main reason is because the most important search engines, and especially Google, frowns upon link exchange schemes like reciprocal linking. Linking back to a small amount of relevant sites in your niche, won't do any harm, but if you get carried away and overdo by keeping the links and linking back to anyone who asks, your website will loose its credibility and reputation. If they are used with moderation, to a certain point reciprocal links can be beneficial.
Reciprocal links is not bad its good for increasing popularity and page ranking but i would rather go on other link building process with good quality content that will help you a lot and worth of your time.
