I have checked if my web site has back links and it appears to have 0. But I know that there are back links.

Does it not count yellow pages.com. and many other directory web sites??

it might be possible that , the back links you have are not crawled by Google. that's why there are not showing in the list of back links for your site. try to PIng the links

I also think that google hasn't crawled the backlinks yet. Give it a few weeks and then check again.

If you have created the link on same theme website then only google will count that link as a backlink.
