  The answer is forums AND blogs, as they both have their own benefit to your serp, and to the readers of your web site. Since both forums and blogs can be follow or no follow, you'll need to make sure that you don't have too many backlinks on no follow sites or vice versa as search engines base part of your serp on how natural your backlinks are. If you're trying to decide on whether you should add a forum or blog to your website, I would suggest maybe doing both, to not only give you more backlinks, but it will give your readers more interactivity to stick around on your web site which also helps your serp.

  Both are effective. Creating your blogs and writing an article for your blog is a big help in promoting your product. While in forum community , using your link in your signature can give your site a quality backlinks

  I think both are best technique for generating traffic and backlinks on our website. But for promoting any kind of product, website and services blog is better compare to forum. In forum you can use signature link which can help to generate backlink and traffic.

  In blog and forum, if both are do follow, I have seen that google gives much priority to a forum backlink. Blog's links are ignored. I don't know why google does this thing. When I check my backlinks, I see many entry from forum link but only few from blogs.

  I think a both, but maybe you´ll need more than this kind
  of links to send real relevance to your site; i mean, the most
  important links that you could have are not those which comes from
  blogs or forums (even though they are do-follows).
  For me, the best links are real natural, from real sites, with real
  and high PR.

  Forum & blog both are very important in the off page optimization techniques and both creates quality back links. In forum our website back links are get approved instantly and in blog many time our website/comments are goes under moderation and not getting instant approval

  No comparisons as such, both are recommendable for linking strategy and traffic generation, depends on your potential if you can elaborate your thoughts can narrate good storyline you can go for blogs and if you just wanna share knowledge as well as enhance yours in brief discussions then forum posting is bets option.

  Google has many signals to consider when it comes to such. For forums and blogs, they mostly depend on content and not just about links. So the more credible and more quality your content may be on both, the more powerful it could be for your website.

  I think Google only care about the number of do follow back links. We get equal number of links through blog anf=d forum, it depends on the quality of our work...

  No. Not at all. Websites may be getting only backlinks from do-follow but it does not mean that G only cares about it. G uses both no-follow and do-follow links in determining the credibility of websites and pages/links.

  According to me first preferable thing is Forum, as compared to blog. Blog though have importance, Forum have more benefits as compared to blog.
  
  Reading a blog consumes more time then forums and Forum is also knowledge sharing, so forum have little bit more then blog comment.
