Need Do's & Don'ts About My Link Building Plan !

Hey Guys,

I have a plan to increase back links for my client ! Please read it and let me know your feedback about it.
Point out all pit falls as well as benefits. Thanx :)

Plan:
My client site is a giant in education sector. They receive a good amount of traffic on daily basis. Now I am planning to create a free blog site (a single free blog) by the help of blogspot/wordpress . And I am planning to do daily posts to it. These posts can be general content (taking a snippet from already live articles with links), some times purely about my client's site (fresh content), some times i may talk about my competitors as well (only +ve posts) .

I am expecting a descent amount of traffic & back links from this free blog to my client's site.
Now tell me, what are the Do's & Don'ts of this plan. Out of box suggestions also welcome !!
