How to build links other than article directories or other directories, link exchange, guestbooks, blog comments, classifieds, dynamic links, link farms, link-exchange programs, forums, FFA websites etc.

Links must be permanent, active, never expire and not require further payments.

  • I'm glad I read your comment. I just looked up sources for seo firm to answer another question, and since I feel the purpose of your question was to share your experience. I'll share this site found helpful on this same subject. Goodluck!
  • Hi,
    Surely the challenge is not to build links but to find relevant sites in your niche that will link to you and therefore be of greater value
  • my thinking now is that more than ever quality v quantity is always gonna win in the long run and nothing worth having is ever gonna happen overnight, research your niche thoroughly and make sure you out your link wherever it is in context!
  • Well, you can always resort to automated tools like article submission tools...
  • I have found automated tools provide little value the experience I had using tools like traffic bug , Not Good. Build good links over time, comment on blogs, social bookmark your content join forums related to your niche with a keyword rich signature
  • Best directory to get backlinks to your site is Dmoz. It's free and it's permanent. Also Google gives high values to your site if you are listed in dmoz. As for others, get listed on relevant directories and you can also exchange links with relevant websites.

  • Dmoz is great if you can get your site reviewed. It takes ages if at all to get into Dmoz. Plus there is no way of checking on your submission to see if there is a problem
  • The trouble with DMOZ is that it takes so long to get anywhere with them

    DMOZ can take up to 18 months, if you just apply normally, although I have used a back door approach and had a few websites listed, but it is hit and miss at the best of times...

    I have a question though, which is the best methods you`ve been working on?
  • Link building can be done by following steps:
    1. Create extensive resource lists for a specific topic .
    2. Create a list of the top 10 myths for a specific category.
    3.Make your content easy to understand so many people can understand and spread your message.
    4.Track who picks up your articles or press releases. Offer them exclusive news or content.
    5.Submit an article to industry news site.
    6.Trade articles with other webmasters.
    7.Submit your site to paid directories
    8.Develop business relationships with non-competing businesses in the same field. Leverage these relationships online and off, by recommending each other via links and distributing each other's business cards.

  • Link building

    1. Directory Submission. The web has hundreds, if not thousands of link directories. Search for the most popular directories and submit your site. Beware, some directories charge for submitting your link but offer very little value in return. If you are going to pay for a link submission, make sure the site has a high Google PR and garners a lot of traffic.

    2. Reciprocal Linking. Exchange links with other popular sites to increase the number of inbound links you receive. There is a good deal of debate in Internet circles today about the validity of reciprocal linking strategies. As long as the link you are receiving is of equal or greater quality to the link your giving, than the concept of reciprocal linking is still valid.

    3. Article Submission. Create quality content and distribute it across the web. There are many article directories that offer content to webmasters and allow for mass distribution. The benefit of article submission is that when you submit your article you include and “About the Author” section. This area of your article is posted each time your article appears on a distributed website automatically building links back to your site. The more valuable the article, the more distribution you receive.

    4. Social Posting Tools. We all know the power of social networks. Use tools like SocialPoster and others whereby you register and submit your site or article to social networks. The benefit of posting to these sites is that others may recognize and acknowledge your submission, resulting in higher placement. With higher placement comes more links and more link popularity.

    5. Gadgets. Develop something worth linking to. Many websites offer free tools that are valuable because they solve a problem. A great example of this is a widget that allows you to find out the Google PR of any site. There are dozens or hundreds of websites that offer this type of tool and users provide links to those sites. Again, find something of value and let others know about it.

    6. Press Releases. Have some news to share? A new product? A website launch or perhaps the results of your latest online survey. Visit sites like PRweb and find a distribution option for you. Press releases are pushed out to hundreds if not thousands of site that might run your release. Of course, make sure that you imbed a link back to your website.

    7. Blogging. If you have your own blog or post comments on someone else’s blog, don’t be afraid to mention something of value relating to your site. Perhaps you can point to a Gadget your offer, free services, or an ebook you’re offering. Blogging is a powerful tool and easy to implement. If you don’t have a blog, start one. You can have your own blog in just a few minutes with today’s online providers like Blogger or WordPress.

    No matter what strategy you use to improve your link popularity, one thing’s for sure. Developing in-bound links to your website is a critical step in achieving website popularity. As your popularity grows, so does your search engine result placement and traffic.”

  • Even if you're relatively new at PPC you're most likely familiar with QS (Quality Score). QS is Google's method of ranking advertisers and a high QS (ranking is from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest) will result in a lower cost per click and better ad exposure. So it's no wonder that achieving a high QS is a priority for advertisers.

    But how do you get a good QS?
    here is so much information about Google QS that you could literally spend days reading about it but for the sake of brevity we'll just hit the main points here (if you want more detail have a read through our free lesson on getting a high Quality Score and avoiding the Google Slap).

    * Your ad's click-through rate — that is, how many times your ad is clicked on compared with the number of times it is displayed. If your ad is served 70 times during the day, but only clicked on once, that could suggest to Google that it isn't what people are looking for, and therefore low quality.
    * The relevance of your ad text. Does the text advertise the product accurately?
    * The relevance of your keywords to the ads in your ad group.
    * The quality of your landing page. This is what we want to focus on.
  • Hi,

    Links are important to Google, Yahoo and MSN in determining where your site is placed within the search results. The more links, the better you will do.

    The engines place a weighting factor on to each link. As such, a link from an important site like CNN would count for a lot more than Jim Bob’s personal home page.

    Google calls their importance scoring system Page-rank, and it’s been a fundamental building block to Google’s ranking algorithm since Day 1. Tactically improving the Page-rank score — and more generically, your “link gain” across all the major engines — of your home page and of key internal pages of your site is critical to getting well ranked and thus getting traffic.

    Links are the currency of the web, so it is important to have a plan in place to improve the number and quality of the links to your site from the outside. That is the idea behind link building.
  • There are web directories which accept link submission for lifetime like linkclick.org but I would also recommend you to do bookmarking on social book marking sites. Also if your website has RSS feed then submit your feed to these sites.
  • There are three main factors that determine the search engine ranking of your website:

    * Site optimisation
    * Site popularity
    * Link popularity

    Site optimisation is about placing your keywords in the right places on your website and making your website accessible to search engines. Please read Search engine optimisation: The basics15 for more about this.

    Site popularity can be achieved through online and offline marketing and through link popularity - the more websites that link to you the more people will find your website. For more on online marketing please read this Buying your way in16 article.
  • Maybe you should try building a mini net or a link wheel for your website. It gives you permanent links without any additional payments.
  • I think above mentioned are some of the best link building tools but another thing that you can do is exchange links of the blog through the blog roll. Writing quality content will not only increase traffic but will also enhance your visibility.
  • have you tried submitting to RSS feeds, creating a press release and also other social media sites are do follow. you can gain links by editing your profile page and putting your website over there.
  • I see,there are really lots of way to link building..

    Thanks for the tips guys!

    Ja I expect it to take a while, if the site gets listed at all I guess.

    I think I like the way it works though, makes for a good directory (in theory) IMHO.
