Google Lied - They STILL use META tags....

Anyone with half a brain can see first hand that Google still uses META tags. They claim to not use the "Keywords" META tag anymore due to company name hijacking, competition abuse ETC. They also claim that the "Description" META tags are not used in a ranking your website in search engines (SERP) I pronounce it like syrup to be fun
Heres a little study I did on a clients website with their OK of course, we "optimized" the META descriptions and keywords for Google, even though they don't matter, right?
Keywords: "flowers, roses, fresh flowers, red roses, flower bouquets, send flowers, flowers online, plants, rose, gift basket, gifts, florists, flower shop, flower delivery, ftd"
Description: "Order flowers online for same day delivery. Shop for flowers and gifts by occasion, season or get beautiful flower bouquets delivered same day by local FTD florists."
Now, lets see what the SERP is BEFORE test.
Results before test: Page 1, second last (bottom of page) META Description is the organic description. All Keywords ranked similar.
Now for the test, I CHANGE the description and REMOVE the keywords META tag.
New Description: "Order cheeseburgers online for same year delivery. Shop for broccoli and gifts by occasion, season or get beautiful cheeseburger bouquets delivered same year by local FTW florists."
Of course we had fun with the test and changed the description to something funny!
Results: time elapsed 1 week
Organic Listings dropped 15 pages, yes, they were now 15 pages lower then they were.
Now we put the keywords and original description back and wait another couple weeks, here are the results.
PAGE 1 NUMBER 1 ORGANIC.
Do the math.
If you never optimized your META keywords, you should, off record they "don't effect rankings" but in reality (that place we all live in) they do effect your rankings.
