Can any one tell me why this site ranks higher than mine

  the number of backlinks is not much of an issue now. why dont you post your competitors url along with the keyword so that maybe we can have a look on it.

  actually they have over 6000 pages indexed in google and over 8000 backlinks as per yahoo. so the google will show more backlinks than that ( in the webmaster tools ). more over they have pr 3. and if you want what the problem with your site, you can supply the url.

  There are some factors are working on his/her website like Page rank, Quality backlinks, relevant backlinks, do follow links, high PR back links etc...

  Where did you get 8000 backlinks from, does this include from their domain, if you exclude their own domain they have 663 fron yahoo explorer. Backlink watcher gives them 591
  Yes they have lots of pages indexed.So could tis be the deciding factor in them ranking higher than mine kaybeedoors . co. uk

  Could be his backlinks have higher PageRank or it could be he has more quality content.

  try reducing the load time of your site, so that google will index your site more frequently and more pages.

  the number of backlinks is not much of an issue now. the main thing is quality.
  you can have 10 best links and be ranked before huge sites with 10,000 links

  Yep have some high quality link can be very beneficial, but from what I've been able to see they dont.
  This account (kaybee .co .uk) was not always mine, but my client said that they (emeralddoors .co .uk) are relatively new to SERPS as compared to him and they just scooted up the ranking very quickly, with less links but many more index pages and therefore internal links, could it be the intenal linking system?

  Their content must be better and more organized... and if it is not, you will eventually take the spot. Sometimes it can take a while, especially if they've been online much longer.

  I can't find that site in the top 10 at all right now. Also, don't forget about domain age and the quality of content.

  Are you cheking the right site and keywords. the site is emeralddoors.co.uk keywords internal doors, they have a double listing ATM, BTW this is Google UK.
  I cant see that they have great links or that many.
  Any explanation would be great.

  i think your competitor have quilty back link and you have normal back link and think you have article and directory link so this is not a good back link if you have link on high PR site so this is good for you and your site

  the only think matter in ranking is not only link but also content, domain age, keyword proximity are some of them so you need to check for all and improve them to improve ranking of your site

  it depends on the quality of links not quantity
  and the quality of your site matters

  Have you checked the anchor text on your backlinks? Try boosting the authority of your backlinks by building links to them, use keyword (and keyword synonym) anchor text and check your page titles.
  interlink your pages more, for example, in each product add "related items" with keyword text links to other products.
  Add breadcrumbs.
  I notice you have reviews on your site, mark them up with hreview microformats and submit them to google´s rich snippets tool
  Add more text to your product descriptions.
  
  Just some quick thoughts off the top of my head, and of course, get more good quality links from authority sites.
