Google.de and backlinks

I have some German domains (.de) and am trying to rank high in
google.de.

So far I have only created backlinks on other .de domains

If anyone could help me in this endeavor or with information
on .de backlinks that would be very helpful.

My success so far is what i would call second tier -lower first page and second page listings

I have ability to get hundreds of .com backlinks
If I use these on these .de domains, will that help or hurt
As far as google.de is concerned?

Is there a big advantage to me keeping these backlinks .de "pure"
or will any backlink (.com, .org, etc) be beneficial?

Are there other german search engines or directories I should focus on?

Thanks
Blogman

    Hi,

It depends on the nature of your website, I'll explain:

If you have .de website on dogs in Germany, it might help to get back links from dog's website with .com ect'... but if your website is about local business, it might not make since to have back links from other local business in the U.S for example.
It has to make since, .de website might get links from .ca, ,co,uk ect'... as long it makes since, another example is:
If you have a world wide company with branch in different locations in Europe, it's make since to have back links from the other brunches of the company (again, .ca, ect'...)

Having this said, it won't hurt to have back links for local business in Germany from .com or other websites, the question is how effective it is. It has defiantly lower effectiveness when I compare it to other experiences that I had during the years, but it will produce results.

It also definitely depends on the language of the web pages he's getting links from...

    So to clarify:
My .de sites are German language affiliate/informational type of websites

    If I am understanding you correctly;
back links from German language websites, regardless of the top level extension, .com,.de, .uk, .org, etc
are a definite advantage and is what I should focus on

backlinks from English based sites such as the normal assortment of .com websites that we use in USA
would be of marginal help, but would not be a negative factor.

I certainly appreciate your responses, as is my first foray into seo foreign language websites.

    Thanks

    Hi,

The key to ranking high in and recieving traffic from the search engines is to optimize your site for specific keyword phrases that are not too competetive but still recieve enough traffic to make it worth your time to try to rank high for. If you try to go after the most popular keywords you will find your site buried several pages in the search results and recieve little if any traffic as a result. Too many sites will be competing for the most popular keywords. Your time is better spent going after less popular phrases that may have been overlooked but still recieve a considerable amount of traffic. It is better to rank for a specific keyword phrase such as High Pagerank Backlinks from actual Pagerank Pages and All Backlinks should be Dofollow & from High Authority sites.

Backlinks always help. In context backlinks are most useful.
If you get backlinks artificially too fast your website can be banned.
