foolish query from a newbie

in Google
lets say in a same niche i have two website site A and site B, while site A is what we can call a website and site B is merely a blog, but site B got more back links from its niche website whereas site A is comparatively new.

now if a link is created from site B..which is older and better linked among two, pointing towards site A, which is newer and less linked site, will the link from B to A will be of any value for site A?
