Why do hits multiply and how to delete them? (Newbie)

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie to this topic and don't know the proper terms but I'll try to explain the issue. When I used to google my name, one of the hits I got was where an email message I had forwarded to someone was posted on a forum and the recipient expressed displeasure with the response and wrongly believed it was originally from me.

Since then, I've noticed that rather than just the one hit, there are several duplicates of that hit. I was wondering how that happens and what, if anything, I can do to delete the hits? I was also wondering if someone has deliberately duplicated the original hit or does that somehow happen spontaneously? Is there a way of finding out?

It's a very old posting so I'm not sure I'd be able to respond if I joined the forum - I might try to do that but I'd still like to know what other options I have.
