  Duplicate content means that there is an identical content as you have. If the content that you post on site is found similar to some other content then it is called to be duplicate.....and it is rejected soon.........

  You are duplicate because content posted on article site get indexed first. Now Google is considering your site's content duplicate and you have to change it completely. That's the only cure now.

  Well when you are getting your articles in search results above your site then that's not considered as duplicate but yes if the same content is on the other sites or you have copied the content from anywhere else, then it will be considered as duplicate content.

  According to me it is not duplicate content , it called copied content.May be your article's site are very attractive then your original site.And more visitor are visit your article site's that's why your article's site position is good then your original site.

  Duplicate content is content that appears on the Internet in more than one place (URL). This is a problem because when there are more than one piece of identical content on the Internet, it is difficult for search engines to decide which version is more relevant to a given search query. To provide the best search experience, search engines will rarely show multiple, duplicate pieces of content and thus, are forced to choose which version is most likely to be the original (or best).
