No search results but claiming top search engine placement
I read this recently on another website and it threw up a question in my mind.
Search Google sometime for best arkansas punk rock band or best connecticut christian rock band and youll see a search result for a website called MusicMates.com. [So and So] has earned more than 5400 search phrases displayed on top of Googles search results related to the music industry and specific locations. And, thats just one website!
I checked Google Keyword tool for the term "best connecticut christian rock band" as above. I came up with not one person searching for that exact term. I checked "connecticut christian rock band" and same results. How can this person claim top search engine rankings for terms that are not even being searched?
As I am relatively new to SEO, this has been a question on my mind for a while. Any help would be appreciated.
