1. When your post is relevant, and not off-topic, even when your link is no-follow, chances are - those who had read your comment or even the author itself will visit your website/blog - know who you are and they might get comment back on your blog.
2. No-follow links are just links. It may not give you a good link juice or backlink for your blog or website, but in some ways we are not yet sure of, Google does consider no-follow links as well and probably look at how your website links in balance with do-follow and no-follow links.
