Hello,
First of all, my english is not so fluent, so I hope you unsertand what I intend to achieve.
Well, to start, I am old experienced with web design and web development, but a one-moth newbie in the SEO world.
The thing is I have this website, in spanish and english languages, which I want to position well for some specific keywords. Not so much the english one, but at least the spanish one and at least in two countries (Spain and Venezuela).
Well, I have been experimenting and I have succesfully positioned some keywords in Google of Venezuela. Some in 2nd page results and some in the very first page, which I am happy fot. But I am also really interested in positioning those same keywords in Spain, where I dont even appear in top 1000.
So, I have read that using a cctld domain will help my website rank better in specific countries. And yes, I own every extension of my domain that is related to the countries I want to target. But I believe I failed by redirecting (rewriting) all cctld traffic to my .com domain.
Now, I know that removing these redirections would help, but that is all I know, and I have some doubts.
1. Once I remove the rewrites of the country-specific extensions to the .COM domain, will I have to add each site (.com, .com.ve, and .es) as separate sites to Google Webmaster Tools and geotarget each site to a specific audience? Won't Google penalize me for indexing the same exact content for each extension?
2. I also happen to have a ranking in Alexa under 1 million for my .COM domain. So I wanted to now if my .COM position in Alexa will decrease drastically because of redirecting traffic from one extension to 3 extensions.
Hope you understand what I want.
Thank you in advance
