the size of the database is irrelevant to the plugin, just the amount of google organic traffic. This forum gets lots of organic traffic and is ok, but if you had 10,000s of daily visits it might get a bit large.
what forum are you thinking of installing it on?

they both have the same functionality, but the GOLD version does not have the link back to this forum.
