Agree with that. Depends if you want to optimize for particular country or not. And there's not much difference between com/net/org for seo.

Then choose between com, net and org. .info is also an option, but it's harder to rank it.

Use .com domains if your planning on building a brand. Do net is a great extension as well and you can use if you're not branding a product and the dot com is already registered. dot org is also a great alternative domain extension and it ranks pretty well on search engine.
