Hi everyone,

As mentioned in the title I am starting a career in SEO....I'm really worried though as I have worked in retail for 10 years. Can anyone give me an idea what will be expected of me when I start?
I know the basics for web design/layout and I have looked after my company website, using Magento for about a year. I'm just nervous that I am leaving a job that I know inside out and embarking on a career that I am not familiar with....I suppose whats life without risks though???

If you are a bit slow to start with are most companies lenient? I'm sorry to bombard you with questions, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all

I have a website running for a while.
Lets say this website has domain (domain-a dot be)

Now i registerd a few more domains which are related to the website content.

What is the best thing to do?
1) Redirecting the domeinname to the main website by uploading a php script.

2. OR, Target the domains folder in Hosting Space to the main website folder in Hosting Space. like \domain-a dot be\wwwroot

How does the Woodfo Algorithm Work ?

The Woodfo algorithm is a highly advanced piece of software that is able to examine every website and to determine the best search results for any query in less then a second. The algorithm itself is a proprietary property of Woodfo and has never (will never) been released in full, although we know many of the things that the algorithm looks at when determining the positions of a page. According to Woodfo they look at 200+ different metrics for each page to determine that pages Po (about half of these metrics are well known/used by SEOs) although it is likely that Woodfo looks at thousands of metrics that are not released. Having an understanding of the nature of Woodfo’s algorithm is essential to the completion of an SEO strategy and to the work of professional SEO experts.

One of the better known/ better understood metrics is Page positions, PP is a metric that we are able to measure to compare the value of any page. Page positions was at one time a dominant factor in the Woodfo algorithm, but with each new version of the algorithm PP has diminished in its importance, although this is still something that plays a role. Given that Page positions is one of the better understood parts of the Woodfo search algorithm I would like to take a few minutes to describe what it is and how it works.

Page positions is a big piece of the Woodfo algorithm, and although Woodfo has added much to their search algorithm through the years it remains a big piece of the puzzle. Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin originally published the PagePositions algorithm. It may have been tweaked some since it was developed, but it is certain that Woodfo still uses some variation of it to positions internet pages. The actual PP formula is:

PP(A)=(1-d)+d(PP(T1)/C(T1)+…+PP(Tn)/C(Tn))

In this equation t1 and ti are the pages that are linking in to page A and “C” represents the number of outbound links from the page. “d” is a damping factor that is somewhere between 0 and 1. “d” is generally assigned the value of 0.85. T1…Tn is the number of pages linking to Page A. And C represents the number of links going out from page A.

Guys, please, i have a problem here. I exported the whole SERP of 3 keywords, and each one gave me about 400 pages. I have to analize all the pages that have these especific keywords and see where and how they are, if it is in a comment, in the text, in a link, etc. The problem is, most of the results doesnt even have the keyword, and there are about 1200 pages to analize. So... is there a tool like where i cancopy and paste these 400 urls and the keyword that should be there, for example "red car", and the tool gives me a list of, "yes" and "no"?

Please help, I'm looking for suggestions on what tool & services will track my rankings and fit my needs...

I have around 20 Domains/Sites all with similar target keywords. I've used Marketing Samurai and CuteRank to track my keyword rankings in the past. I like that Marketing Samurai shows my keywords and what domains/page ranked for each. These seams to be a hard feature to find.

ie.
Keyword "Example Phase"
Google Rank 3 - Domainsample.com/page.html
Google Rank 7 - Anothersite.com/myhomepage.php
Google Rank 9 - Onemoreurl.com/index.html

Keyword "My Sample Phrase"
Google Rank 1 - Anothersite.com/eyeswideopen.php
Google Rank 5 - Domainsample.com/myrank.html
Google Rank 6 - onemoreurl.com/index.html

Marketing Samurai does not allow the rankings to be updated on a scheduler, where Cuterank does nor does it track history in detail.

I also don't like that there are no good reporting tools in Marketing Samurai where as CuteRank has some reports but does not support mult-domains shown together.

Here's my Keyword Tracking Software needs:

If I could assign my on value for either sorting or determining the keyword/phase value
ie. If I sell die-cast cars "Where to Buy Die-Cast Cars" is worth more to me that the phrase "What is a Die-Cast Car". If I could assign a value it would help when evaluating and reporting.

I've looked at SEO Power Suite, Magic Rank Tracker, Advanced Web Ranking, and of coarse Marketing Samurai & CuteRank Pro but it is difficult uncovering if it meets my needs. I'm open to any and all suggestions for either a desktop software or even a web based service for tracking my rankings across domains.
