  Yes, Bing is growing fast, but as a major contender, i believe google has the market here and for some time.

  Agree, Bing is making huge strides but Google still dominats and will for a time to come. 70% of my traffic still is come from the big G.

  As for now google is still on top and the most accurate in terms of search engines but i think its hard to maintain in number 1 spot that's why google is taking time in updating.

  No other search engines can beat google easily in coming days. I think google will remain no.1 for long time in coming days.

  I believe that over time bing and yahoo will take more market share of google. We wrote a post in September on Google losing market share to Bing and Yahoo. See it here - Bing loses market share

  Can't see google losing it's dominance any time soon. Bing may be growing, but it has a very small market share compared to google.

  I don't see the others knocking Google off the top spot. Google is always working hard to be one step (or more) ahead of the others. Recent moves such as Google Instant go to show this.

  Within the next 5 years, the amount of data and therefore businesses, websites, servers etc etc, are set to soar by around 30 percent. If google is to handle such information, then naturally, it will have to off hand some of this info to those up and coming search engines.
  
  It has to, if it is to remain a highly functional data providing cyber hub.
  
  Otherwise, it would crumble.

  Facebook with a lot of user data can come up with some innovative search algo based on likes and dislikes can give google some competition but I am seeing no chance for bing or yahoo..

  yes Google is on top. they go one step ahead from others, It was expected that bing will take it down but didn't happen

  Google is definitely sitting pretty at the top. Yahoo was always my favourite when I lived in the UK (I know that Yahoo was the biggest search engine used in the UK 5 years ago - not sure what it's like now), but searching for stuff in Canada it has to be Google.

  google will always be number 1 as soon as bing or whoever starts catching them up and i dont mean by just one or 2 percent which has this year i more mean if bing in one year caught google up by 20-30 percent google would look at whats different and release the next big thing to put them back on top

  Bing is on the top list contender but i think they have to do a lot of things, a very far before can take over google. Google still number one in my opinion.

  I think it's too early to talk about the search engine after Google. The results they provide are much more accurate than what Yahoo and Bing provide and as long as people are getting what they want, there is no reason to switch. Yahoo has already lost the battle as their search results will be driven by Bing. And as much market share as Bing has taken over in the recent years they are still have only a minor market share.
  
  Bottom line, Google is darn good at what they do and unless Bing can improve their game dramatically it's safe to say that Google will remain #1 for years to come.

  Keyword Search engines
  You know what you're looking for, and can describe it with some key words or phrases.
  Google is always a good bet, since it has the largest index
  Yahoo Search is the second most popular keyword search engine
  Bing may provide results if the other two don't work
  Exalead is an excellent choice and makes a change from the big 3

  That's what we all thought of Excite, AOL and Yahoo back in the 90s. I would not be so sure about leaders and how long they stay #1 in a field evolving as quickly as Internet searches! Just looking at the past 20 years, we had three #1 players in the computer industry: IBM, Microsoft, and now Google. Each changes the world, made a lot of money, and was eventually dethroned!

  Bing? I don't think Bing can beat google not unless they change their way of pormoting their service. But it's still possible.

  in about 10 years as there is no difference between bing and google. why would bing take over google when it searches the same way and looks the same except logo etc. if google was going to be dethroned it would be by something completly new different look a whole new way of fetching results up then that may beat google as people may prefer it as a end user

  Its true that Bing is growing fast with improving features but still it needs more effort to beat Google as Google has made its own reputation and market so high.There are some lacking features in Bing that Google provides us for easy working.

  There are some rising comers...Facebook (but they would have to change the primary function), YouTube (already fast becoming the "new search tool") and of course Bing. But as long as Google keeps doing what they do best....innovate and dominate! They aren't going anywhere any time soon!
